On the basis of a brief introduction of AP1000 Nuclear Power Unit primary loop related water filters and related equipments, the whole operation process of taking out a spent filter cartridge from its container, transferring it to the storage area and installing a new one was studied and analyzed. A reasonable and feasible filter cartridge replacing and transporting operation process was then proposed, and the related equipment design performed at the same time. The combination of a reasonable operating process and equipments with perfectly shielding canminimize exposure risk to operating personnel, and effectively prevent operating equipments and the surrounding environment from radioactive contamination. Some suggestions for improvement are also provided for follow-up projects, considering existed problems in filter cartridge replacement and transport process.

According to the monitoring results ofambient air aerosol in the surrounding area of nuclear power plants, uranium mining areas, control areas without large-scale release of radioactive materials, statistical analyses were carried out for gross α, gross β and 7Be in aerosol samples from around Daya Bay NPP, Yangjiang NPP, Taishan NPP (not running), uranium mining areas, Guangzhou City, Maoming City and Shaoguan City. The changes of aerosol radioactivity levels before and after the operation of nuclear facilities, and those for Fukushima nuclear accident, were compared.

By taking part in a comparison measurement held at Hedi reservoir in Lianjiang City, Guangdong Province, the values ofcosmic ray response factor were further verified for six RSS-131 high pressureionization chambers in use in Guangdong Environmental Radiation Monitoring Center (GERC). The results show that the value range is 0.609-0.713, with an average of 0.651 and a standard deviation of 0.036. It indicates that the cosmic ray response factor is stable, and, with theoretical calculations combined, can be easily obtained for different regions, so as to solve the difficulties in cosmic ray measurement.

The source term, and radiation hazardsin the sampling process, of control rod in late-life of a research reactor were analyzed, and the radiation monitoring and protection scheme during the operation was worked out. In the whole sampling process, the maximum individual accumulated dose was 61 μSv, the collective dose was 229 μSv·person. These resultsindicate that the radiation protection measures for sampling effectively ensuredthe safety of worker.
