Process Research and Related Equipment Design for Primary Loop Related Water Filter Cartridge Replacement and Transport of AP1000 Nuclear Power Unit

Abstract: On the basis of a brief introduction of AP1000 Nuclear Power Unit primary loop related water filters and related equipments, the whole operation process of taking out a spent filter cartridge from its container, transferring it to the storage area and installing a new one was studied and analyzed. A reasonable and feasible filter cartridge replacing and transporting operation process was then proposed, and the related equipment design performed at the same time. The combination of a reasonable operating process and equipments with perfectly shielding canminimize exposure risk to operating personnel, and effectively prevent operating equipments and the surrounding environment from radioactive contamination. Some suggestions for improvement are also provided for follow-up projects, considering existed problems in filter cartridge replacement and transport process.
