In this paper, the preliminary designof the area radiation monitoring system for fisrt Chinese-designed fast reactorNPP (CFR600) has been completed. A comparison of radiation monitoring systems is made between the China Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR) and a typical PWR NPP,thus providing a theoretical basis for the next stage of construction design.

This paper introduces the environmental radiation monitoring at Yangjiang Nuclear Power Base from 2014 through 2016, including environment air gamma radiation absorbed dose rate,TLD,and the monitoring data of some major radionuclides as well. Then by analysis lessons drawn through practices are summarized. Results show the running of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Base from 2014 through 2016 has no perceptible effects on the environment, andits radioactive environmental quality remains basically at the same level as the background investigated before operation.

In order to increase cementation efficiency, the optimization and practice were conducted for waste transfer and operational steps in cementation process. Reasonal arrangement and cross-work have shown that the cementation of spent resin and concentrates and the immobilizationof disued filter core increased by 36%, 28% and 37% respectively.

The upper limit of total emission concentration of radionuclides other than

C in a coastal nuclear power plant is 1 000 Bq/L, per Technical requirements for discharge of radioactive liquid effluents from nuclear power plants (GB 14587-2011). In order toeffectively prevent and control of abnormal discharge, it requires that the threshold of on-line monitoring instrument interlock alarm should not exceed the emission concentration control value by a factor of 5. The process and matters needing attention for alarm threshold setting are, however, not provided in detailin the standard. It was discussed in this paper, with problems encountered in practical work.

Emergency initial conditions (IC) andEmergency Action Level are regarded as basis of emergency classification for nuclear power plants. During an accident, the judgment of the fission product barrier function is one of the identification of emergency initial condition and action level. In this paper, according to the technical documents published by the nuclear energy institute (NEI), the reasonability about containment radiation monitoring data characterizing the loss of the primary circuit barrier function forNINGDE NPP is initially analyzed and discussed.

EU countries have long history in nuclear power development. In the aftermash of Chernobyl nuclear accident, radiationenvironmental monitoring has been enhanced by increased investment and improvedmonitoring network. At the same time, the legal building of nuclear emergency has been strengthened, forming the effective regulation system in practice. The article introduces the EU's nuclear emergency legal framework, reviews the relevant international conventions, the EU’s major nuclear emergency regulations, andthe legislation of each member country, with a view to providing reference forimproving the nuclear emergency legal system in China.
