Abstract: In order to meet the continuous development demand of nuclear and radiation environmental protection in the new situation, and to further enhance the capability of nuclear and radiation environmental monitoring and supervision, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (former State Environmental Protection Administration) organized and implemented more than 10 major capability building projects on nuclear and radiation monitoring during the "Tenth-Five", "Eleventh-Five" and "Twelfth-Five" periods. Project management is strictly implemented in the whole process. This paper summarized the experiences involved. The strategies for application of advanced project management methods are also discussed preliminarily, combined with the international development direction and China's actual situation.
