Abstract: In order to draw lessons from the radiation accidents and to improve radiation safety level, the author summarizes and sorts out the radiation accidents that occurred in China from 2016 to 2020. The author also analyzes the types, levels and consequences of the accidents on the basis of the final evaluation of the 13th Five Year Plan for Nuclear Safety and Radioactive Pollution Prevention and Control and the 2025 Long-term Goals carried out by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The issues caused by radiation accidents are discussed. Suggestions are put forward, such as optimizing radiation safety supervision, cultivating nuclear safety culture, establishing radiation safety evaluation indicators, and improving the compensation mechanism for radiation accident damage.
