Abstract:
The single-gimbal control momentum gyro(SGCMG)is an ample power inertial actuator used for large structure spacecrafts. The thermal characteristic of SGCMG is not only the foundational influencing factor to its performance, but also an important issue to be considered in the thermal control design of the spacecraft. In this paper,a thermal balance test and the related measurement results for a 200Nms single--gimbal control momentum gyro have been introduced.161 thermometers are laid at different position on the inner and outer surface of the tested device.Under several different thermal vacuum conditions, the device has been controlled to run for enough time to reach the thermal-balance state. The measured temperature data of the 1 6 1 thermometers and the performance data of the device have been recorded. The measurement results reveal the temperature distributions of the device operated under different conditions, and show no evident dependence of the performance of the device on the environmental temperature condition.
