Abstract:

The single-gimbal control momentum gyro(SGCMG)is an ample power inertial actuator used for large structure spacecraftsThe thermal characteristic of SGCMG is not only the foundational influencing factor to its performancebut also an important issue to be considered in the thermal control design of the spacecraftIn this papera thermal balance test and the related measurement results for a 200Nms single--gimbal control momentum gyro have been introduced161 thermometers are laid at different position on the inner and outer surface of the tested deviceUnder several different thermal vacuum conditionsthe device has been controlled to run for enough time to reach the thermal-balance stateThe measured temperature data of the 1 6 1 thermometers and the performance data of the device have been recordedThe measurement results reveal the temperature distributions of the device operated under different conditionsand show no evident dependence of the performance of the device on the environmental temperature condition
