Abstract: Heat arising from decay of the radionuclides in the nuclear waste transmits outward by the conduction, convection andradiation. It results in temperature rising in containers, buffer and near fieldhost, which leads to temperature gratitude to be formed between waste and host. The time-dependent gratitude variations eventually affect the ground water system and radionuclide migration. It is necessary to calculate and predict the near field temperature. This study investigates thermal analyses of the repositories in some countries and present a preliminary summary of the source terms, simplified repository model, calculation methodology and results, which could be as areference for HLW repository in China.
