Improvement of Emergency Action Levels of Heavy Water Reactor NPP

Abstract: This paper describes the revision of the initial conditions (IC) and emergency action levels (EALs) of the Qinshan-III 2010 version. The ongoing revision was made considering the changes made in the relevant IAEA standards and documents, in the US NRC guides and in the nuclearsafety guides of Chinese version. Both current practice of the Qishan-III NPPIC and EALs and the changes in the QNPP updated technical documents are reflected in the revision. The main revisions focus applicable operation modes, EALs for gamma radiation levels in containment, EALs for abnormal radiation level or radioactive effluents, and IC/EALs for natural disasters covered at the QNPP Baseand for chemical hazards and security events.
