Abstract: The establishment of a radiation control area is one of the necessary conditions for nuclear power plants to load nuclear fuel, and it is also the most important task for the radiation protection department of a power plant during the handover phase. This paper introduces the characteristics and difficulties of Hualong One reactor type in the process of establishing a control area. At the same time, combined with relevant experience of CPR and EPR models in the process of establishing a control area, this paper focuses on analyzing the key items of the establishment of seven controlled areas, such as "control area boundaries", "information signs", "monitoring systems", and "material preparation", and makes a comprehensive summary of the work related to the establishment of control area. The paper discusses the relevant matters that affect the normal operation of the control area in the later stage, such as the adjustment of the functional position and renovation of the BAX room, and provides solutions for reference. In addition, the paper also explains some typical situations that may be overlooked during the establishment of the control area and lead to unplanned accidental exposure risks, such as the original design defects of the grille door of the outer ring corridor of the fuel transfer channel, which leads to incomplete isolation during fuel transfer.
